About

Artist, Musician

Musician/Songwriter/Visual Artist Bob ‘Omar’ Tunnoch was born in Ottawa in 1953. The natural world has been his life-long passion and is a constant source of inspiration for him.

As a member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), Ontario Society of Artists (OSA), the Color and Form Society (CFS), and many more, his paintings can be found in private and corporate collections across North America. Bob, or ‘Omar’ as his friends like to call him, was a featured artist in the 2013 publication of ‘International Contemporary Artists’. His use of vibrant colors, attention to detail and thought-provoking subject matter consistently leaves the viewer questioning his motives.

As a two-time Juno award-winning songwriter, and twenty-year founding member of the beloved Canadian blues group FATHEAD, Omar is known in music circles for his unusual approach on the electric, fretless bass. His humorous and often thought-provoking song writing has carried him to the finals three times in the International Song Writing Competition (ISC), and also earned him two honourable mentions. Never limited to just one genre, his writing travels through many different musical styles, which has landed him on stage with some of the music world’s greatest legends including Etta James, Paul Butterfield, John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton, to name a few.

His musical and visual creations are constantly evolving, proving to be a source of anticipation and interest to his audience. He is on a mission to integrate these two artistic mediums into one coherent vision.
